Poling in America Shows Environment Should Still Be A Priority

The Harris Poll®, conducted among 2,848 adults in the United States who were surveyed online by Harris Interactive® between January 12 and 19, 2009.

46% of Americans say that the issue of environmental conservation is something that is more important to them personally than it was a few years ago.

47% say it is no more or less important.

7% of Americans say it is less important to them.

Furthermore, most people do not believe the government needs to choose between the economy and the environment and that the government should be making more of an effort to be environmentally conscious.

45% say they are making more effort to be environmentally conscious than they were a year ago.

51% of Americans say they are making the same amount of effort.

Just over half of Americans say governments are making the same amount of effort as they were a year ago.

35% say they are making more of an effort than a year ago.

66% believe governments should be making more of an effort than they were a year ago.
