LCV Campaigns Project Manager
Today I canvassed with actor John Slattery, who stars in the hit show Mad Men.
John met a big group of LCV volunteers in Virginia and wanted to get right to work knocking on doors. After giving our crowd of volunteers a pep talk, we left for our turf.
John knocked on almost 50 doors for LCV to talk about how Barack Obama will help turn Virginia "green."
He didn't need a script to tell voters why he's for Obama. From the very first door, he simply stated that he was out volunteering his time for LCV because Obama is better on clean energy and creating new jobs – and getting America off our addiction to foreign oil.
We talked politics (obviously), but also chatted about movies, cities and our families as we walked between houses. I have to report that not only is he a fabulous actor (it's not every day you get nominated for an Emmy!), but a really funny guy who took time out from his busy life to put his time where his values are – teaming up with LCV to help turn environmental values into national priorities.
