LCV in the News

The League of Conservation Voters added two congressional candidates, Congressman Sam Graves and Dean Andal, to its 2008 “Dirty Dozen” list. The Dirty Dozen targets current and former members of congress, regardless of party affiliation, who consistently vote against the environment and are running in races where LCV has a serious chance of affecting the outcome.

A new report we released reveals that Americans favor investment in clean, renewable energy over increased oil drilling. The poll indicates that 83% of Americans support a plan to end America’s addition to oil through investment in wind, solar, and next generation biofuel technology.

LCV endorsed attorney Frank Kratovil yesterday for Maryland’s 1st Congressional District seat. “Clean energy has the potential to break our addiction to foreign oil, protect our environment, and create millions of jobs,” said LCV Communications Director David Sandretti in a statement. “Frank Kratovil will bring a new energy to Washington and new prosperity to Maryland.”

The Arizona League of Conservation Voters released its annual scorecard yesterday, commending legislators in the latest session for being particularly environmentally conscious.

LCV joins forces with Patagonia, who is targeting Generation Y in its new “Vote the Environment” campaign.
