The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters will hold a listening session in Minocqua on Aug. 7, one of 11 events across the state aimed at ascertaining from the public what the group's top issues should be for the next state legislative session, said Jennifer Geigerich, WLCV capitol liaison. "If the public isn't excited about the issues we focus on, they won't get involved by contacting their legislators," she said, citing the grassroots focus of the organization.
Excellent point.Wisconsin's acceptance of out-of-state waste arose as an issue in one such session. "Nobody was focusing on it," Geigerich said, "but it came up at listening sessions, so we made it an issue."
