John McCain has said that Teddy Roosevelt is his kind of Republican president, in part because of Roosevelt’s record on conservation –which is somewhat surprising, given McCain’s lifetime LCV score of 24%.

With Minnesota facing a projected $1 billion statewide budget deficit, Conservation Minnesota’s Dave Dempsey warns that the Clean Water Legacy program may be threatened, saying “we are going to be hard pressed to keep it going at any level because of the competition for scarce dollars.”

And, last week, LCV worked to stop the Republican “drill-only” proposal.
