LCV in the News

Coverage of yesterday's press conference protest!

Politico covers our protest and observes this exchange:

“This is one of the few times the American people are excited to see Congress back in session,” said Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).

At one point, a protester interrupted, yelling “you’re an idiot!”

The GetEnergySmartNow.com headline says, "Emerging from cave, some Republican lawmakers find sunshine not to their liking" and says:

Everywhere he traveled over the August recess, Boehner said, people asked him to pass an energy bill that includes a robust drilling measure.

“The American people have spoken,” he concluded.

“No we didn’t,” screamed one protester, as the chants from the crowd picked up intensity.

and, in other news:

LCV- endorsed Congressman Jerry McNerney is running a tight race against his opponent, Dean Andal in California’s 11th Congressional district. Andal has an abysmal environmental record, and has been placed on LCV’s Dirty Dozen list.

(Via Kos) Tom Friedman on John McCain: Bloody dishonest and disgusting

The Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund will hold a news conference today, to release information regarding the new jobs that could be created in Maryland by an initial investment in clean energy.
