LCV in the News

A new report from the Center for American Progress says $100 billion in green investment could create 2 million jobs in the US –including 15,000 in Nevada. The new plan has been praised by the Nevada Conservation League, Virginia League of Conservation Voters, and other environmental groups across the nation.

LCV President Gene Karpinksi criticizes McCain’s environmental record, saying “John McCain was better on the environment that George Bush…but that’s an incredibly low bar because Bush was the most anti-environment president we’ve ever seen.”

LCV spokesman David Sandretti lambastes McCain’s flip-flop on climate change, noting that “he never talks about global warming any more. During the primary he was much more vocal.” In recent months, McCain’s position on global warming has become more aligned with Sarah Palin, who does not believe that climate change is man-made.

McCain’s huge carbon footprint stands in stark contrast to LCV-endorsed Vice Presidential hopeful Joe Biden, who is one of the “poorest” members of the Senate and received an 83% LCV lifetime score.
